MODY is a rare form of diabetes which is different from both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and runs strongly in families. MODY is caused by a mutation (or change) in a single gene. Blood glucose levels in people with glucokinase MODY are typically only slightly higher than normal.
Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) is an inherited form of diabetes mellitus. Up to 5% of all diabetes cases may be due to MODY. An obese person with a MODY gene mutation may develop symptoms of diabetes sooner than someone of normal weight.
Maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) refers to any of several hereditary forms of diabetes mellitus caused by mutations in an autosomal dominant gene.
